When A Man After God’s Own Heart Follows His Own Heart.
In 2 Sam 11:1 to 2 Sam 12:25, we found a famous story of King David and Bathsheba, which is more salacious than any Hollywood movie. It started in the Spring when every man went to war, but King David decided to remain at his palace while sending Joab to war. Late one afternoon, when the sun went down, and the moon started showing its light, David saw a beautiful woman cleanse herself from the top of the roof. He enjoyed the beautiful scenery and could not get rid of the woman from his mind. The next day, he started inquiring about the woman by asking around. By asking around, he already warned and knew that the lady was the wife of Uria, one of his loyal soldiers.
I want to stop here and ask two critical questions. At what point King David starts sinning? Some Bible commentators and preachers go as far as when King David relaxes and remains at his palace. I disagree with them because God also commands us to rest and make the Sabbath holy. Is it when he started to see the naked lady cleanse herself? No, I don’t think so. I knew from Job that we should make a covenant with our eyes and limit it from seeing young girls, but this is not the point when David falls into sexual sin.
