We watched a great classic movie, Treasures Of The Snow last night at the Genesis Intelligent Design Center. I found that the film is worth watching again and again, and it is on the YouTube Vision Video channel for free. If you are going to discuss it more deeply with your family, there is a discussion guide also from the Vision Video website.

Forgiveness is essential to our lives because we all make big and small mistakes. One wrongdoing leads to another blunder, as man’s sinful nature creates a vicious cycle. We can see in the movie how one wrongdoing makes all the main characters live in their alienated miniaturized mind. Forgiveness is one of the ways to break the vicious cycle and turn it into a virtuous cycle. We saw this reflected on Annette’s face in the story. My analytical mind tries to find the root problem. Does the vicious cycle start from Annette’s slap (similar to Eve’s action in Genesis)? Is she slapping Lucien because of her love (for Dani) or her hate (toward Lucien)? Is her heart bent around her hatred so oblivious that even her grandma and Dani could recognize it? The problem with an analytical mind is it tends to live in the past and overanalyze everything. Time and the wounded carpenter in the woods help cure Dani’s wound. Forgiveness brings us back to the present and gives us hope to live. Forgiveness makes our hearts more grand, as vast as the grandeur of the majestic Alps mountains.

Annette slapped Lucien in the face after accusing him as a liar.
