There were at least two suicide cases of university students in Surabaya, Indonesia, in Sept 2024. This triggered my suicidal thoughts since I am burnt out at least stage 6 out of 12. If I trace my thoughts, I think the suicidal thoughts started when my mother was beating me. Either I was stubborn at that time or innocent but naive; I yelled at her to beat me until I died. The suicidal thought keeps coming back when I am stressed or burned out. The worst one was after graduation from university when I got my bachelor’s degree. I was burnt out until I lost my memory when I woke up. After that, I needed to go to a psychologist and a psychiatrist. My memory came back when I had to decide significantly about life or in a stressful condition.

One of the biblical lessons that kept me from doing suicide is, “It is easy to die for your faith. It is more difficult to live for your faith.” (For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain Philippians 1:21). Praying while exercising and dog-petting afterward works well for my mental health and me. Practicing mindfulness helps.
